Talbott Brothers tour; Forthcoming Nebraska releases; St. Patty’s shows

The music portion of South by Southwest kicked off at the beginning of this week, and frequent Hear Nebraska contributor Chris Dinan is already in Austin catching artists. He’s been updating the Hear Nebraska Instagram account with who he’s seeing, so be sure to follow @hearnebraska this week and check out #nesxsw for all things Nebraska-related at the festival.

The rest of the crew leaves tomorrow to join Dinan in Austin. Be on the lookout for coverage this week of Nebraska acts playing the festival.

We’ve been saying for a several months now that 2015 would yield many strong Nebraska releases. Already we’ve seen Broken Glass in the Sun by Kill County and Freakabout’s debut Don’t We All, come down the pipe. There’s a few more we’re excited to see later this year.

At the end of this month, Woodsist releases Simon Joyner’s Grass, Branch and Bone.

Twinsmith and Icky Blossoms both have May releases on Saddle Creek Records.

Lot Walks is in the mastering stage of a debut full-length and Skypiper is recording in Minneapolis right now with Levi Stugelmeyer at Summer/Winter. We can expect new records from The Good Life, Millions of Boys, See Through Dresses, the aforementioned Talbott Brothers, Desaparecidos and Big Harp.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

If you’re looking for St. Patrick’s day debauchery, you can catch punk act Killigans at Knickerbockers with Red Cities and Dead Man’s Run. The show starts at 7 p.m., RSVP here. Or Bolzen Beer Band is playing Dad’s Beer Night at Duffy’s (RSVP). Lately it seems like both bands crop up exclusively for St. Patrick’s Day, beer festivals and other hard-drinking special events. They’re certainly good fits.

In Omaha, Irish folk act Dicey Riley plays The Dubliner Pub (RSVP).
