Mynabirds announce album; Michael Wunder on Hear Nebraska FM; new HN Radio playlist; Homegrown Film Fest submissions

Mynabirds is on the way back. Generals, the Omaha indie pop band’s second album, came out in 2012 and after some rigorous touring on the album, the Laura Burhenn-led band has largely been quiet.

Burhenn spent 2013 touring as a member of Postal Service. In July, she toured solo in South Africa through One Fine Day. In the last several months, she has been writing and recording a new record. Burhenn, who now lives in Los Angeles, says to look for the album in early 2015.

Burhenn has a round of solo shows coming up in New York City and London.

Sept. 30 – New York City at Rockwood Music Hall
Oct. 6 – London at The Waiting Room
Oct. 15 – London at The Slaughtered Lamb

A documentary that follows Burhenn on her South African tour is currently in the works. She’s released a teaser here:

It’s Monday which means a brand new playlist available for streaming on HN Radio at the top of the page.

Look for a new track by Max Fischer and Downtown James Brown, a track from Stonebelly, Simon Joyner and one from Bonehart Flannigan’s upcoming release, Backpacks and Mason Jars. Be on the look out for a podcast review of that debut album this week.

We’ve also got three tracks from Lars and Mal’s appearance on Hear Nebraska FM last week. Tonight, Michael Wunder stops by the studio for an on-air performance. Tune-in at 8 p.m., 89.3 FM in Lincoln and kzum.org worldwide.
