View the Lineups for HN’s 6th-Annual Take Cover Concert

The artist rosters for our annual — and this year, free to attend (with suggested donation) — Take Cover benefit feature some of the brightest in-state acts around.

The two-night concert series’ sixth edition will feature the likes of Domestica, Jack Hotel, Dirty Talker and Life Is Cool at The Bourbon Friday, Jan 27, and See Through Dresses, David Nance, Jocelyn and Rothsteen at The Waiting Room Saturday, Jan 28. High Up’s Christine Fink will emcee the Omaha concert while this writer somehow got the Lincoln gig.

In all, 24 Nebraska acts will perform at least one cover of a classic or contemporary Nebraska band. Their choices will be announced in the lead-up to each concert.

This year’s Take Cover concerts are free to attend thanks to help from sponsors in Lincoln and Omaha. There is a $10 suggested donation, which will help Hear Nebraska continue to produce journalism and programming that promotes Nebraska music.

HN contributor Ben Semisch went to Lincoln’s 1867 Bar on Thursday for the first of a two-night run by The JV Allstars. The pop punk band’s reunion has become somewhat of an annual event; last year, it helped close down Knickerbockers by playing the now-defunct Lincoln venue’s final show. Omaha garage rock band Bed Rest and Lincoln post-hardcore band Better Friend opened the show.

If you missed it, The JV Allstars play 1867 again tonight, this time with Freakabout and A Summer Better Than Yours. The show is all-ages and tickets are $12. All proceeds benefit Kampout For Kids. RSVP here.
