New Jake Bellows video, Twinsmith to play Pygmalion Festival

*Jake Bellows released a new video for the title track of his 2013 album New Ocean. The album came out last summer on Saddle Creek. In line with elemental and exploratory themes Bellows spoke about the album having, the video depicts the world swirling through the cosmos and into the ocean. The video was made via found film from morgans brother. Watch it below.

*Omaha band Twinsmith announced today that they will play Pygmalion Festival in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. Others on the lineup for the music and literature festival include nationally-known acts ChvrchesTycho and Real Estate. The festival takes place on September 25-28 and tickets can be purchased here.

*In other news, Eros and Eschaton, which features Adam Hawkins (formerly of It’s True), released a cover of the ‘50s standard, “Cry” today. The recording is part of the Bar-None Records summer sampler and can be downloaded here.

*Hear Nebraska will be represented by Lincoln skateboarder Matt Ratliff in a skateboarding, non-profit competition for a $1,000 donation from Union Bank. The bank held its Be Skateboarding Competition on June 7 and selected three skaters and their chosen non-profits to compete for a donation. The non-profits competing are Hear Nebraska, I’ve Got A Name and Victory Ride Skate Park. The non-profit represented by the skater with the most Facebook votes will receive a $1,000 donation. The skater with the second most votes will receive $300 and the third will receive $200. Votes can be cast here and voting will be open until Sunday, June 22 at 11:59 p.m.
