Once a constant staple of Omaha music circles, Little Brazil has played infrequently in the last two years.
On Saturday, at a Waiting Room show with Ladyfinger and See Through Dresses, they’ll do something of a “relaunch” (more in this column by Lazy-i.)
Singer/guitarist Landon Hedges told Hear Nebraska it would be Little Brazil’s first show with a new drummer in ten years, as they’re now joined by Matt Bowen on drums and Mike Friedman on guitar. Bowen replaces Oliver Morgan, who played his last shows with Little Brazil (now of Twinsmith) back in January. More on those shows here.
Hedges says the band will roll out three new songs on Saturday night, with “many more coming.”
Finally off the monster national tour for Doom Abuse, The Faint’s Todd Fink will guest DJ a show at House of Loom on Saturday with owner Brent Crampton. That will assuredly be wild.
Anyone Omahan of a certain age has a good Ranch Bowl story. Now, they’re good for more than barroom conversation.
Former owners Matt Markel and Larry Good are publishing a book on the defunct venue’s history with Omaha Books and Kristine Gerber. Follow this link to submit stories and/or photos for inclusion in the book.
To preview the Nebraska Folk & Roots Festival, which begins tomorrow in Lincoln’s Railyard, co-organizer Jeremy Buckley put together this Spotify playlist as a sampler of the more than 30 participating artists. It’s worth a listen, from the folk-pop of headliner Wild Child to a few pieces of purist bluegrass. Check it.
