Good Speakers Fest organizer Darren Keen announced yesterday the would-be Omaha festival is cancelled. Instead of headlining the two-night festival at the Carlisle Hotel, Andrew WK will play Vega.
Andrew WK, Cakes da Killa, Reptar, Universe Contest and several other local acts were slated to play. Citing a lack of time, preparedness and experience to execute such a festival, Keen said in his cancellation announcement that all purchased tickets will be refunded.
Keen said in the release that he was able to make arrangements between Andrew WK and Vega. The multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer WK will play the Railyard venue on Sept. 20. He is known for his strict adherence to his personal philosophy of partying.

We apologize for the wait, but we’re relieved to announced the final Live at Turner Park show has been rescheduled for Sept. 10.
The series was supposed to conclude this past Wednesday, but the billing of Noah’s Ark Was a Spaceship and Snake Island! was rained out for a second time. The Sept. 10 show will still be on the Turner Park greenspace. Now, please, fingers crossed.

Quite a few shows this weekend, including a few releases:
Let’s start with 5 Bands for 5 Bucks at the Old Pub in Lincoln, featuring Red Cities, Producers of the Word, Within Wild, Two-Headed Dog and Angel and the Devils.
The Bottle Tops will play Vega tomorrow afternoon in celebration of the first Husker football game. 2:30 start time for that one.
Halfwit, Her Flyaway Manner and Laughing Falcon play the Zoo Bar tomorrow night. Yesterday, Halfwit released four songs on their Bandcamp. It’s their first official release of any kind. For more on Her Flyaway Manner, we published a substantial piece yesterday tracing Lincoln’s prog punk history the last 20 years.
Saturn Moth plays a record release show tomorrow night at the Waiting Room with Lot Walks, Manic Pixie Dream Girls and the Sub-Vectors. We premiered a song from the LP earlier this week.
On the hip-hop front, emcee TKO (whose video we mentioned a few weeks back) is releasing his new mixtape, God King, at Slowdown on Sunday. RSVP here.
There’s a do-not-miss Sunday Social Club at O’Leaver’s this weekend, featuring Little Brazil and Digital Leather, as well as a grill-out — all for $5.
