When Gerardo Meza’s throat sounds the first vowels of “Rescue Your Heart,” you know he’s in his natural habitat.
The cool, early autumn air of the songwriter’s Lincoln backyard blows against his rough and powerful voice, heartily matching the folk tradition his music so often exudes.
Meza released “Rescue Your Heart” on his SoundCloud over the weekend, along with 20 other demo songs. Though they’re his first public releases, the Mezcal Brothers frontman says a proper solo LP is still forthcoming.
