The Queers with Masked Intruder at The Hideout | Photo Essay

The Hideout was the scene of a multi-force punk explosion on Saturday night.

Following Omaha’s The Ridgways, four piece pop-punk purveyors Direct Hit! of Millwaukee/Chicago furthered the affair with spirited dueling guitars and harmonized vocals. Their hook-laden set was delivered with both bombast and precision.

Masked Intruder, a band of mysterious provenance followed. Donning colorful ski masks matching their instruments and bursting into a crowd-rousing set of high energy anthems, the four piece and their “police escort” had the room pushing, shoving and singing along in short order.

The Queers, long-standing punk institution from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, closed the event. The three piece, fronted by Joe King, and joined by a revolving set of musicians has been performing their Ramones-esque brand of beer soaked punk since 1982 and shows no signs of slowing.
