The sweltering heat on Friday didn’t stop a large crowd from arriving early to Sokol Park for the second day of Hullabaloo Music & Camping Festival.
Friday featured performances by Carolyn Wonderland, Patrick Sweany, The Main Squeeze, Andy Frasco, Kris Lager Band, The Decatures and more. High energy (just like Thursday) and with high temperatures persisting into the evening, the stage crew and band members routinely gathered backstage around one of several bins of free water bottles.
My highlight of the night: Chicago funk band The Main Squeeze took the stage late in the evening — stage times were expectedly running quite a bit behind — to a very upbeat and responsive crowd, showcasing a tasteful blend of funk, pop and progressive influences.
