You couldn’t have bribed Craig Finn to keep still.

The Hold Steady opened their show Thursday night with “Constructive Summer” from their 2008 album Stay Positive. From moment one, Finn, their lead singer, ran across the stage, yelling out to the crowd with arms open. The Hold Steady is currently touring in support of their new record Teeth Dreams, their first LP coming off a band hiatus. For more on that, read Hear Nebraska’s interview with guitarist Tab Kubler from earlier this week.

The energy level stayed high throughout the Brooklyn band’s whole 20-song set, with the band only taking a break to thank the crowd halfway through the night. Then they continued with four more songs, spanning their ten year history of Americana rock, ending the night with a song from their 2004 album, Almost Killed Me, “Most People are DJs.”

Josh Berwanger Band, from Nilbog, Kansas, opened the show Thursday night with high energy.
