“Help” by Jake Bellows | Love Drunk

What better place to wax poetic about navigating modern life’s crowded cultural streets than from a cramped van’s bench seat? While in snowy Omaha over the holidays, Jake Bellows climbed into the back of a 1999 Chevy Astro Van for Love Drunk episode 135.

In an aching, gently-strummed rendition of “Help,” the former Neva Dinova frontman calls to a distant lover through a proverbial crowd of “dancers,” in his mind all static interrupting their paths to happiness through each other. Unable to reach the “throne,” his face contorts into a moaning wail as he cries out in loneliness.
