Lincoln Calling update; new Emeka tracks, Reptar, Cherub, Rose’s Pawn Shop, Michael Wunder tonight

Lincoln Calling’s roster got a little fuller today. If last week’s lineup announcement looked to be something like a reorganization of the previous Lincoln Exposed and Lincoln Calling, then today’s is a bit of a refresher. This second-round announcement, with bands like Little Brazil and See Through Dresses, adds Omaha muscle to the 40 or so bands we already knew were going to play. The festival added a handful of out-of-towners, a solid group of comedians and enough DJ acts to keep a party going all week.

All access passes to festival are available here. See the full announcement at the bottom of the page.

Emeka, an Omaha-via-Miami rapper and R&B artist, released “I Don’t Need Ya,” the lead single off his second mixtape, “Last of the Four Horsemen.”

“Last of the Four Horsemen” doesn’t have a release date yet, but if “I Don’t Need Ya” is an indication, it will be a collection of brooding, personal tracks influenced as much by R. Kelly as 808s and Heartbreak.

Plenty of shows to push you through the middle of the week tonight.

Cherub returns to Lincoln to play The Bourbon with Ghost Beach and Gibbz. Cherub’s electronic party-pop center of gravity seems to have grown two-fold every time they come back to Lincoln, so tonight’s sure to be a crowded, sweaty dance party. Tickets are $18. RSVP here.

Reptar and blét play Vega tonight. Reptar is based out of Athens, Ga. but frontman Graham Ulciny calls Omaha home these days. Their last release was 2012’s Body Faucet on Vagrant Records. Blét just returned from playing Bubble Fest in Madison this weekend. RSVP here.

Rose’s Pawn Shop plays Duffy’s tonight with the Matt Cox Band and Bootheels. The Los Angeles headliner plays a kind of disoriented, anthemic Americana well-suited to the tracks from Matt Cox’s just-released Nishnabotna. RSVP here.

In Omaha, Michael Wunder and Little Marais (HN managing editor Chance Solem-Pfeifer) play Songwriter Night at the Library Pub. Wunder’s raw voice gives way to imagistic lyrics and a graceful guitar. RSVP here.
