The absence of emcees at last night’s Urban Outfitters showcase opened the door for some of Omaha’s most recognizable DJs to flesh out the performative aspects of their work.
INFNTLP (of Both) shimmied and mimed along to his song selection. Kethro debuted new and ambient demos, as well as the base of an All Young Girls Are Machine Guns “Snake In The Tree” remix. Dojorok showed remarkable dexterity, fluttering his fingers percussively across his turntable’s pitch control lever.
Rock quartet Gramps followed — the band of Django Greenblatt-Seay (guitar, vocals), Nicholas O’Bradovich (drums), Tim Walker (guitar) and Daniel Lehmann (bass) was playing just its sixth show in three years of existence. In the propulsive rock, there was pop punk sensibility in the song structure, emboldened by Greenblatt-Seay’s baying tenor and Walker’s full guitar tone. They’re currently working on a four-song EP.
See photos from the evening below, and we’ll see you the first Thursday of April for the next round of UO x HN.
