If you’ve ever experienced the Alpine Inn (10405 Calhoun Road, Omaha), then you know the story. The fried chicken is good, the billiards are only 75 cents, and the staff is always happy to see you. Oh, and they feed chicken scraps to wild raccoons and feral cats right outside the window, which makes for a prime Instagram opportunity.
So maybe it was an appropriate location for Twinsmith to record Love Drunk‘s 114th session. It’s a band made up of leftover scraps from Betsy Wells, Little Brazil and a few other groups that have either folded or moved on without them.
But Twinsmith is doing OK. They are releasing a new album at the always-classy O’Leaver’s on Friday before embarking on a two-week, East Coast tour. On Thursday, listen to the band play Hear Nebraska FM at 6 p.m. on 89.3 KZUM, or stream online at kzum.org.
Here, they perform “The Thrill” in the Alpine Inn’s smoke room. It’s an airy ballad for those of you compelled to dance at the end of your chicken dinners.
