Now, in its fifth consecutive year, the Nebraska Hardcore Showcase kicked off Saturday at The Hideout.
In a massive all-day lineup, it featured Nebraska hardcore groups such as Bruja (their last performance, it should be noted), Purgatory, Bent Life, Vickers and hardcore punk godfathers Cordial Spew.
The fest kicked off at around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, and powered through some of Nebraska’s most aggressive acts. This year’s showcase featured an eclectic mix of not only classic hardcore but black metal, sludge and punk. Simply: a collective of loud-ass musicians.
Some antics throughout the night included Powerslop’s one-song cover set of The Ramones anthem “Blitzkrieg Bop,” and Vickers burning of a bowl of human hair.
