Lonely? Call us. Sounds like exactly the thing a nonprofit cultural organization called Hear Nebraska should offer, right? An ear to the public?
If the idea is new to you, let us explain. Our answering service, Holla HN at 231-HOLLAHN, is intended to be yet another medium of communication between you — the musician, the fan, the person who dialed the wrong number — and us — the folks who listen and consider to cover your upcoming concert, publish your question posed for a larger audience or laugh as you impersonate us in your message.
At the bottom of every story, you'll find a tagline including an email address at which you can reach us. You can leave comments farther below that. You can message us on Facebook, or you can approach us if you see any of our smiling faces at concerts, the grocery store or on our daily nature walks. Holla HN just adds to the means of connection in hopes of getting the word out about some part of the Nebraska music scene we're missing.
As part of Lincoln Calling 2012, we asked bands to call in with their pitch: Why should folks go to their show when the annual festival is planning more than 120 bands at nine venues over six days? We received a few musical demonstrations and a few persuasive speeches. Give your approval for any by clicking the heart inside our SoundCloud players or leaving a time-synced comment.
Lincoln Calling starts off this year on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at The Bourbon Theatre at 8 p.m., and expands further from Wednesday through Sunday. All-access passes are available for $30 through Oct. 9 at Kinetic Brew inside of the Bourbon Theatre during daytime business hours. The Wolfgang Gartner show is an additional $10 with an all-access pass. Day passes and single-show passes will also be available during the week of Lincoln Calling, and are listed below in our interactive calendar.
