Built To Spill at Slowdown | Photo Coverage

Built To Spill performed at the Slowdown on Saturday night to a full house.

The Boise, Idaho-based band released its most recent album Untethered Moon in April. It the band’s eighth studio full-length and first since 2009. The five-piece, including three guitar players, brought its unique blend of soaring melody and intricate guitar rhythms that made them one of the darling bands of the late-’90s.

Touring with them were two Pacific Northwest acts. The opener, a one man band, Clarke And The Himselfs is a fellow Boisean who performed an ambidextrous setplaying overdriven electric guitar, a drum set, and singing at the same time–the effect of which created a post punk, indie, lo-fi atmosphere.

Wooden Indian Burial Ground (W.I.B.G.), a band from Portland, OR, had the middle slot of the evening. The three piece, guitar/vox, bass, and drums, performed their enthusiastic blend of manic progressive indie surf rock.
