The Talbott Brothers are an Americana Folk/Rock band from Nebraska, based in Portland, Oregon. Nick and Tyler form a unique sound that balances vocal harmonies with their instrumental ensemble of guitars, mandolin, harmonicas and percussion. Their entertaining effect on stage is embraced by multiple generations, as they are known for fun and energetic
performances that blend singer-songwriter styles with folk and rock.

In the past few years, The Talbott Brothers have brought about a vast amount of change and growth, both musically and as individuals, striving to find their own way through life’s sometimes rocky landscapes. It comes as no surprise that the better part of their career has been spent traveling the once unfamiliar highways in search of purpose and what it really means to pursue
one’s passion.

Their sophomore album —‘Places’ focuses on the lighter side of the journey, in comparison to the raw, acoustic-driven sound of their previous album — ‘The Road.’ Offering catchy melodies and rhythmic writing, songs like ‘Running Man’ and ‘Hold On’ lend hand to heart-warming and eerie harmonies only close siblings could share. For Nick and Tyler, the album title isn’t about
physically going somewhere, but rather a metaphor for the different places one goes within relationships, beliefs and ultimately oneself.

“It’s not easy to go below the surface and become vulnerable in front of others, but for us that’s been the best way to truly connect with another person whether you’re on stage, in line at the grocery store or on the phone with a friend,” says Tyler. “There’s a depth you can’t be afraid to go to, otherwise that relationship might not ever reach its full potential; that’s the direction are songwriting is headed.”

There is resolution in ‘Love the Ride’ as their voices strengthen, affirming the decision that seems at once to tear them apart inside and give them hope. In a way, it’s as though they sing tearfully and consolingly to a lover: I’m sorry, baby, but this is what I was meant for.

“Love the Ride means a lot to us because it’s about finding joy and contentment in the journey, not the destination,” Nick states. “It’s about having to give up the things we want in order to carry out something greater than ourselves. That include having to be away from our families and friends and also the sacrifices they make as well.”

“We felt a certain entitlement when we first started out, and realized that we were trying to make others see things a certain way. It wasn’t until we looked inward, and realized all the places we hadn’t gone yet within ourselves, that we needed to make a change,” Tyler admitted.

The freeing feeling portrays the dedication that the brothers have in taking their craft on the road. Their hope is to reach people by reaching inside of themselves. While ‘Places’ is The Talbott Brothers’ most recent songwriting, it’s also a glimpse of what’s to come. The Talbott Brothers are in process of recording their next album, which is set to release in 2016.
