ALL AGES

Jessica and Heather Hottman are sisters that started playing music together at a young age. From singing the National Anthem at the College World Series, to composing music for local production companies, to singing for television commercials, their careers have varied across the musical spectrum. In the spring of 2010, they began playing shows as a band with other local musicians in their hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. While attending college, they continued playing music locally. Jessica began writing more frequently and the sisters began to develop their desire into a career.
At the start of 2015, they decided to start fresh as their own musical duo known as The Hottman Sisters, hence their last name “Hottman.” Jessica began writing all new material and collaborating with her sister Heather, while the duo started performing their new material at various open mic nights and shows. In the spring of 2015 they began collaborating with musicians and sound engineers to create an eight song EP. The sisters also made an addition to their band with young, fierce drummer, John Evans, who joined The Hottman Sisters project in November of 2015. In the fall of 2015, The Hottman Sisters were nominated as Best New Music of 2015. Shortly after, they were featured in the Omaha World-Herald as “Band of the Week,” in January of 2016. This band was also on the Hear Nebraska featured scene list of Bands to Watch For in the 2016 Year.
Since then, the sisters and John have been steadily booked with multiple shows per week. The band has also embarked on tours to places such as Los Angeles, California, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. In April of 2016, they decided to add a fourth member who could bring some bass to their overall sound. Jon Ochsner joined The Hottman Sisters project, making a seamless transition into their emotionally charged shows, characterized by full throttled harmonies, swelling sounds, and offset by a spunky and rhythmic backbone.
“I love The Hottman Sisters. They are unapologetic badasses and the sooner everyone knows that, the better. Their songwriting is clean and well-crafted and their performances are magnetic.” ~Kait Berreckman Band
On July 8, 2016 the four piece band released their debut EP titled, This Two. The eight song record showcases all original music, with featured instrumentation by renowned artists like, Patrick Newbery of Cursive, and Mark Powers, a drummer and percussionist on M. Ward’s album titled, More Rain. The EP was engineered by Omaha native, Adam Roberts, and most of the mixing and recording was done at his home studio, also known as The Library. A few weeks were spent in the B Room at Mike Mogis’s ARC Studios, and the mixes were mastered at The Lodge by Grammy nominated engineer, Emily Lazar.
2016 plans for The Hottman Sisters include: Red Cloud, Nebraska, as part of The Good Living Tour, New Generation Music Festival, which takes place at Stinson Park just a few weeks before MAHA Music Festival, opening for The Shook Twins at Sokol Park, and more tour dates to venues like Tonic Room in Chicago, Illinois, and the Root Note in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Rebecca Lowry, frontwoman of All Young Girls Are Machine Guns and founder of Benson First Friday Femme Fest, summarized it this way, “Barely a year out on the public stage, Jessica and Heather Hottman are making waves…”
