Soundrabbit
SoundRabbit is a genre-smashing original rock quartet from Boulder, Colorado. The band seamlessly spans folk, world music, jazz, Latin, pop, indie, jam, and straight-ahead rock to create one of the most complete repertoires of original music in the Colorado music scene and, indeed, even nationally. Hands-down one of best live bands in Colorado, SoundRabbit’s live show lets this diversity shine, as fan favorites from the studio albums take on new life with improvised jams and alternate arrangements, and the setlists carry listeners through a myriad of genres. SoundRabbit’s music draws broad comparisons, from “old school Weezer” to Arlo Guthrie, Bon Iver, the Talking Heads, Ben Folds Five, Johnny Cash, Wilco, Led Zeppelin, Paul Simon, Dave Matthews Band, Elliot Smith, and Elbow, among others.
The band formed in the summer of 2007 as a quartet, releasing their first album, This Room Becomes A Crowd, in November. A year of local shows and national touring followed, and then the band released their second album, Tree Trunk Airplanes, in 2009. They played over 100 local and national shows to support the album that year and then traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia to write and record a third full-band album, eventually titled Don’t Forget To Remember. The first tracks of the album were released in early 2012, and the full complete album is due in early 2013. In the interim, a live duo acoustic show was recorded in Boulder, Colorado and released as an official live album.
SoundRabbit has shared the stage with artists including the Avett Brothers, Keller Williams, the Infamous Stringdusters, Band of Horses, Blitzen Trapper, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, TV on the Radio, Cowboy Mouth, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, Ryan Montbleau Band, and others. They’ve appeared at venues nationwide, including Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont; the Fox and Boulder Theatres in Boulder, Colorado; the Middle East in Boston, Rockwood Music Hall in New York City, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado; the main stage of the Tempe Music Festival in Tempe, Arizona, and countless others, large and small.
A college favorite, SoundRabbit has performed at universities nationwide, including Boston College, St. Lawrence University, St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, St. Thomas University, Brandeis University, St. Anselm College, Babson College, Arizona State University, the University of Wyoming, Colorado State University, CU Boulder, the University of Dubuque, Edinboro University, and many others.
SoundRabbit has donated thousands and thousands of dollars since 2007 to charities through their Backstage Community program. Much more than a fan club, the Backstage Community rewards fans with great content and interaction with the band, and allows for the band to donate both financially and with their time, to incredible organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Alternative Spring Break, Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, Pink Elephant Posse, and many, many others. The band has a now-famous bumper sticker that reads “RBT,” and those in the know take photos holding it in places all over the world, from the Coliseum in Rome to the tops of mountains in Colorado, to remote villages in South America.
In the spirit of keeping the fire of live music alive, at every show, SoundRabbit thanks the venue for hosting live, original music from up-and-coming artists like them, and asks the crowd to applaud and support the venue’s full live music schedule, be it a large or small club.
