Scott Severin redefines eclectic. Born “sometime during the Kennedy administration,” this songwriter/performance artist has been a folkie, punk rocker, actor, street performer, and published poet. Although his musical style could nominally be defined as Indie-Rock, he manages to encompass and eviscerate musical styles from Country & Western, Americana, traditional Rock & Roll, Blues, Folk, and Tom Waits-like mock opera. The only thing easily definable about Scott’s sound is that it is truly original and challenging. A born and raised New Yorker, Severin moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 2004.
Scott recorded and released his debut album, “Unknown Rider”, in 2004 and returned to live performance after a 10-year absence from the stage, caused by, he says, “a really bad cold.” Recorded in the town of Kingston, New York, Unknown Rider was produced and mastered by the legendary producer and musician Steve Burgh, who passed away tragically a few months after completing the album.

Severin and his band, “Scott Severin & The Milton Burlesque”, recorded a full length cd, “Birdhouse Obbligato” which was released in 2010. The CD was recorded and engineered by Joel Peterson of “The Faint” at Enamel Studios, mixed and mastered by Tim Ware at Warehouse Studio, and also features the keyboard wizardry of noted film soundtrack composer Joe Delia. Cameos by Omaha local mainstays Sarah Benck and Jason Ferguson rounded out the lineup.
Of late, Scott has returned to his roots, and is performing both band solo acoustic shows throughout the US during the winter and spring of 2015/16. He has also relocated to Lincoln, NE and has been performing both solo acoustic and with a ad hoc band featuring the best musicians from several bands in the Lincoln, Nebraska Americana and Rock scene. Also on tap is a new long player, “The Witches Of Council Bluffs”, scheduled for 2017 release.
