Max Holmquist (The Great American Desert) and J.J. Idt (Eagle Seagull/Conduits) got together in the fall of 2012 to work on arrangements for Holmquist’s solo project in the spare time between their individual projects’ downtime only to find that the songs were moving in a unique direction. With a full set of songs they entered the studio with Roger Lewis (Neva Dinova/Conduits) on drums and started playing shows under the name Oquoa. Patrick Newbery (Conduits/Cursive/Tim Kasher) joined the band in the spring of 2014. JJ Idt relocated to Oregon in the summer of 2014 spurring the free, online release of their self-titled LP online at oquoa dot com with Mike Overfield (Conduits) joining the band on bass.
