MACHINE – Based out of Portland Oregon, Machine is a celebration of heartbreak as seen through the lens of self respect, and inspired by soul, punk, and disco. Lead by vocalist and pianist Madeline Mahrie, and supported by percussionist Peter Thomas, this piano and drums duo blends the minimalist instrumentation of 80’s new wave with a powerhouse vocal approach reminiscent of Janis Joplin, Christina Aguilera, and Ann Wilson. The sexy yet sophisticated appeal of the duo creates an awe inspiring aesthetic while maintaining an organic, dance-able groove. Think Fiona Apple on steroids at a wrestling match while having an orgy with Black Sabbath circa ’72 and you will hear Machine.
