Twinsmith (Omaha)

The recent Saddle Creek Records signees always appear joyful in riding the wave of their own airy melodies and ear-wormy grooves. Across quick-footed guitar springs and winding synth grooves, the Omaha indie rock quartet continues to build larger and larger musical challenges for itself. The band’s first full-length, Alligator Years comes out on Saddle Creek in May 2015, after a winter and spring full of national touring and an appearance at the South by Southwest music festival.

Freakabout (Lincoln)

Defined by Cortney Kirby’s boundless rock vocals and blasting guitar melodies, Freakabout’s debut 2015 album Don’t We All finds the Lincoln rock band at its catchiest. The four-piece has made regional strides, the last two years with a handful of tours to every corner of the Midwest.

Lloyd McCarter and the Honky Tonk Revival (Lincoln)

Growing up in a musical family, Lloyd McCarter has long been steeped in what he calls “real country music.” After cutting his teeth in the honky-tonks of the Midwest, McCarter released “Tired of Being Me” in 2012. It’s an EP that arrived with rich country sounds, swinging steel guitars, and McCarter’s attention-grabbing drawl.
