The Good Living Tour: Kearney — Josh Hoyer and The Shadowboxers, The Seen and Mike Adams and Friends

Kearney, Nebraska hosts night six of the 2015 Good Living Tour — Wednesday, July 22, outdoors at Yanney Park.

And this one is going to make people dance.

Fresh off the release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album Lincoln’s funk/soul band Josh Hoyer and The Shadowboxers headline the concert, joined by Omaha rockers The Seen, and Kearney Americana troubadour Mike Adams and Friends.

Kearney, Nebraska Visitors Bureau has contributed funding to help Hear Nebraska bring the Good Living Tour to the city. The tour is an inaugural concert series hosted in nine communities across Greater Nebraska, July 17-25. It’s also an accompanying community storytelling/marketing project aimed to communicate the benefits of living in Greater Nebraska to a young audience — statewide and around the world — through social and traditional media.

The concert is FREE, FAMILY FRIENDLY, and ALL AGES are encouraged to attend. Doors open at 6 p.m., with music beginning at 8 p.m. Come young. Come old. Celebrate Good Living in Greater Nebraska!

http://joshhoyerandtheshadowboxers.com/

In the last two years, Josh Hoyer and the Shadowboxers has gone from a Lincoln blues bar favorite to one of the most notable acts in the state. They’ve now released and nationally toured two dynamic albums of funk and soul music, landing repeatedly on the national roots music charts. Prior to assembling the Shadowboxers, frontman Josh Hoyer spent decades performing in Lincoln with Son of 76 & The Watchmen and Tijuana Gigolos. A third Shadowboxers album is currently in the works.

THE SEEN (Omaha)

After playing Maha Music Festival in 2012 and touring with Cursive and Hawthorne Heights, Omaha’s The Seen has shown itself to be one of the most evolved acts in Nebraska music. Originating from powerful hard rock and punk vibes, the band has since tapped into more adventurous and dancey soundscapes, while maintaining its upside-the-head volume. The Seen’s most recent tour saw the band traversing the country with the Omaha hip-hop duo BOTH.

MIKE ADAMS AND FRIENDS (Kearney)

Kearney’s Mike Adams brandishes a classic kind of folk rock, from a proud troubadour tradition. Adams has also coordinated and arranged the music for The Sandburg Project, a Nebraska Educational Telecommunications film, and a Nebraska Humanities Council program on Woody Guthrie. His new album, Sky Above, is a collection showcasing Adams’ love of country legends, but with modern twists of jazz and roots rock.
