Ashely and I – Drew from folk trio, Northwest Passage, is now part of a folk duo, Ashley and I.
Redleg Husky – Formed in 2012 in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Redleg Husky is an Americana/folk band that recalls the sounds of a long drive, a well-worn record, and boots on a dusty floor. Their live performances have continued to captivate audiences throughout the Southeast, leading to features on the Alternate Root Magazine’s “5 Flying Under the Radar,” WNCW’s “Local Color,” WMMT Mountain Community Radio, WDVX’s “Blue Plate Special,” Homoground.com, and a performance at the 2014 Sirens on the Mountain Music Festival. Redleg Husky consists of Misa Giroux (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Tim McWilliams (vocals, guitar, banjo), and regional/studio musician David Funderburk (vocals, various percussion, musical saw). Their debut self-titled EP was recorded in Greensboro, NC, by Daniel Levi Goans (Lowland Hum) and released in January 2013, followed by their first full-length studio album Carolina, recorded at Wild Chorus Studios in Knoxville, TN, by Scott Minor (Sparklehorse) and released in March 2014.
Determined to share their unique blend of boot-stompin’ folk music with soul, Misa and Tim are embarking on a self-planned national tour, “Across the Fields,” between June and October 2014. Check out the tour calendar for an up-to-date list of shows, and like Redleg Husky on Facebook for behind-the-scenes features!
“…The group consistently delivers folk rock songs that easily cover the themes of love, heartbreak, faith and enjoying the slower life. All in all, Carolina is a pleasure to listen to, and effortlessly transports the listener to a thriving, rural part of America.” -Claudia Morello, The Aquarian
“Carolina is an album of exceptional beauty… It’s more like a painting from the Hudson River School: thoughtfully composed, but earthy and a little messy. It’s honest, restrained in the right places, and joyfully exuberant everywhere else.” -Rachel Cholst, Adobe and Teardrops
“The strength of their songwriting echoes through the songs on their new album, ‘Carolina’, and each one tells a tale that lives in today just as well as reflecting yesterday. ‘Carolina’ is Redleg Husky’s first full-length studio album, and the result is one of those roots recordings that you feel right at home with the second it opens. Clearly on a journey to see where their music takes them Redleg Husky are happy to work in the tradition and equally unafraid to innovate.” -Tom Franks, FolkWords
