"Give girls the confidence to use their voice through music education and performance."
This is the mission of the Omaha Girls Rock Camp, which this week has instilled self-respect in young musicians and encouraged self-expression through workshops and one-on-one instruction. With the help of Nebraska musicians such as Jamie Pressnall (Tilly and the Wall), Melissa Amstutz and Rachel Tomlinson-Dick (HERS) and Aaron Markley (Electric Chamber Orchestra), girls from 8 to 18 have prepared for the culmination of the camp on Saturday.
Omaha Girls Rock will celebrate its bands at a showcase at Slowdown on Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m. RSVP here.
As for the lineup? How about Contagious Flamingos, Feisty Females, Fire Fusion Five (F3), Justice Warrior 5, La Real Misses, Sneaks, Neon Thunder, Tie Dyed Harp Seals, The Trouble Clefs, Umm, I don't know? and Urban Scrunchies.
