If only life were "one part Godard's Band of Outsiders, one part Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation": That's how The Mynabirds' frontwoman Laura Burhenn describes their video for "Generals." If anything, these few minutes of music and black-and-white film allow one to travel to that slice of the Venn diagram where the two meet.
The band of babes Burhenn assembled includes Icky Blossoms' Sarah Bohling, Honeybee and Hers' Melissa Amstutz and Rachel Tomlinson Dick, Lindsay Trapnell, Susan Sanchez, Sarah Tvrdik, Hallie Sharkey, Kara Cavel and Tessa Wedberg. The "bad guys" are Saddle Creek's Robb Nansel, C.J. Olsen and Jeff Tafolla.
It's a little slice of Nebraska with its cast, which also features a number of the New Revolutionists that go well with the album GENERALS' political undertones. The record is out now and is for sale on iTunes for a discount through the week.
