Biography

The Dust Jackets is an American roots blues-rockabilly band from Lincoln, Nebraska. The band is fronted by husband and wife duo Travis and Becky Koester, joined on the drums by Nick Woodward. The group formed in 2014 but are no strangers to the vast array of stages and festivals across the Midwest. Travis has found solo success as a songwriter and in a few bands including the award winning Travis & The FlameKats back in the early 2000's. Becky learned to play bass and joined him on vocals when the FlameKats formed. The group won the Zoo Bar Battle of the Blues Bands and the Recording of the Year for Lincoln's KZUM radio station at the band’s height in 2004. The band has also had the privilege to share the stage with greats such as Magic Slim, Nick Holt, and Duke Robillard to name a few. Nick Woodward, better known as “Woody”, joined Travis and Becky for another band project called The Allnighters shortly after The FlameKats came to an end. The power blues/rock trio had a sense of musicianship that was clear from day one. The band enjoyed a short run including sharing an Omaha blues stage with Shemekia Copeland before parting ways.

Travis, Becky and Nick reconnected over their love of playing live music and started talking about getting a group together again many years before it actually happened. While Nick lived in Chicago and the Koester's lived in the South, the ideas kept rolling before they all moved back to their home area in Nebraska. In the fall of 2014, the band got together for the first time in 9 years to create new music.

The group has a large selection of original music with old covers thrown in the mix to generate a cool vintage vibe sure to gain fans quickly. From their strong blues roots with a dash of rockabilly and surf, their music creates a mix that will keep dance floors hopping across the Midwest once again.
