Join us at the 402 Arts Collective on Saturday, November 5th beginning at 1:30 PM as Andrew presents a workshop exploring the intersection of art and faith.
What does it mean to be faithful to a calling to serve the Lord with our musical gifts in the context of work, church, or other ways? What’s the difference between being called to do something and really liking to do something? Between making art and making a living? Between risk and fear in pursuing vocation or avocation? What does it mean to be a Christian Artist in a post-Christian world? How do we live that out in the context of our daily lives?
Music and Business in 2016: What works now? How do we get started? Most importantly, why do we do make music in the first place and how can we grow?
For those interested, Andrew will also cover questions about songwriting and production and about the music business and next steps if you are thinking about a professional career. If time permits, Andrew will also spend time with individuals or smaller groups talking specifics about technique, critiquing material you bring along, or exploring what to do with music you’ve already made. We’ll wrap up in plenty of time for you to catch the Nebraska football game on TV that evening, though Andrew is also open to going out for a bite to eat and continuing conversation with anyone who would want to do that.

About Andrew Osenga:
Andrew Osenga’s professional music career began in the late 90’s as the lead singer and songwriter of the groundbreaking sonic experimentalists The Normals. They released three critically acclaimed albums on Forefront Records before disbanding in 2002. He then quickly shifted into a role as lead-guitar player and chief songwriter of folk-rock pioneers Caedmon’s Call. He continued with Caedmon’s through the making of 2007’s full-length release, Overdressed. Producing records in off touring seasons and releasing solo albums of his own, Andrew became a staple of critics’ end of the year favorite lists. In 2012, Osenga donned a custom spacesuit, inhabiting a custom, fan-constructed spaceship, and recorded “Leonard, the Lonely Astronaut”, a wonder of a concept album exploring issues of love, loneliness and forgiveness. His most recent release is a collection of 4 EPs titled “Heart, Soul, Flesh and Bone”, each devoted to a different genre (singer/songwriter, blues/soul, rock and roll, and instrumental), each revealing a facet of Osenga’s musical depth.
Andrew has also worked in A&R for Capitol Records with such artists as Rend Collective, Josh Wilson, and Mandisa, produced for Andrew Peterson, Laura Story and a slew of others, toured as a musician with Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God Christmas production, played Carnegie Hall with Steven Curtis Chapman, and filled in as honorary “fifth member” of Jars of Clay. His songs have been recorded by Chris Tomlin, J.J. Heller, Jonny Diaz, Jason Gray and many others.
Andrew and his wife have three young daughters and they live in Nashville, TN.
