Refrigerator: formed in 1990 by siblings Allen & Dennis Callaci and drummer Joel Connell (of the legendary hardcore band Man is The Bastard). A short time after the bands formation, Dennis founded his pioneering indie label Shrimper which has released a multitude of recordings by the band over the last 25 years. Chris Jones replaced Connell in 1992, he being a childhood friend of the brothers. The band added a bassist to their guitar/drum/vocal line up 5 years later when Franklin Bruno’s bassist, Daniel Brodo joined the band. The band, like their label, does not have a website & is prone to requesting that any info on them be taken down from websites. Refrigerator has recorded a steady stream of CD’s and LP’s over the course of 25+ years, their last was the “Temple City” LP which was released in 2014 after lead vocalist Allen’s recovery from a heart transplant. Allen Callaci will be reading from his book “Heart Like a Starfish” which details this harrowing period in his life at (Solid Jackson Books/Almost Music, Tuesday June 28th, 7:30pm) and the band will be playing a rare live show, and their first show in Nebraska at O’leaver’s on Friday July 1st with Simon Joyner and the Ghosts and L. Eugene Methe. Refrigerator has not toured in nearly 20 years & this show will be a special occasion for them. Joyner has recorded two records with Refrigerator’s Dennis Callaci, and will be producing the new Refrigerator record the week they are in town w/ band member Mike Friedman.
Simon Joyner and the Ghosts: Simon Joyner is a singer-songwriter living in Omaha, Nebraska. He’s released many records since 1993 on various independent labels.
