Brad Stewart Live Comedy Album Recording w/Halfloves and Universe Contest

After nearly 20 years as a stand up comedian, Brad Stewart will be recording his first comedy special live at The Zoo Bar on Friday April 22.
Brad Stewart began his comedy career shortly after moving to Los Angeles from Nebraska in 1995 and winning 1st place in comedy contest. He beat out hundreds of comedians to win $500. Brad used it to register his car in California. It wasn’t until 15 years later in 2010 that Brad got his big break: becoming the favorite opening act for comedy legend Joan Rivers. Joan said Brad is “so talented and a joy to work with” Brad has also worked with Marc Maron, Brian Posehn, Tom Rhodes, Kyle Kinane, Chris Kattan, Drew Hastings, The Temptations, Jon Lovitz, Keith Sweat, Rob Schneider, The O’Jays, Barry Manilow, and 80’s rockers Loverboy.
In 2012 Brad was picked by TV Icon Marlo Thomas as a “Comedian to Watch” for the Huffington Post.
This will be recorded for an upcoming album to be released by Lincoln’s Sower Records as well as filmed for a DVD special.
After the taping will be 2 fantastic bands:
Iowa City’s Halfloves.
“the best currently active rock band in Iowa” – Iowa Informer

“…a splendorous fusion of mellifluously lilting pop and spacey, psych imbued rock” – I Heart Moosiq

“Halfloves is one of the most prominent bands in Iowa today.” – Little Village

“This is an Iowa band you need to know… they’ve matured into an excellent indie rock band capable of weaving tones together into a bright, rocking and melodic dose of pure pop.” – Ames Tribune

and Lincoln’s own Universe Contest will be making it’s triumphant return to Zoo Bar!!
” The search for the ‘next big thing’ is a frustrating exercise as old as rock music itself. Who will ‘break through’ to the ‘next level’ and make a ‘big splash’ on the national scene? Molded in a prog rock sound reminiscent of early Modest Mouse- and driven by a rabid fan base emanating from the Star City- Universe Contest is poised to be the next big thing. Let’s leave it at that.” -Hear Nebraska
