Watch below, and find (arguably) the most stressful Christmas song both smoothed out and militarized by Kaitlyn Hova.
Seen with a full band in this music video, Hova (a former violinist for Mannheim Steamroller and Trans-Siberian Orchestra) interprets “Carol Of The Bells,” with a hint of “We Three Kings,” into a burbling and expressive piece of electronica.
Thematically, Hova is a noted synesthesiac — put very generally, she sees sounds as colors — and so the video takes on a conflict of seasonal hues: red vs. green holiday grenades. But when Hova and the band are shown playing, you’re peeking into Hova’s actual sensory experience. As demonstrated in this video that Hear Nebraska produced earlier this year, Hova is using an app and visual light projection to show what she “sees” depending on the note she’s striking.

Now, here’s the premiere of Kaitlyn Hova’s “Carol Of The Bass.”
