Tuesday night’s show at the Waiting Room was more than just a concert. It was a movement to bring the community together and to educate and inspire people to learn more about ways to live a more sustainable and regenerative lifestyle.
Not only does this tour provide a fantastic night of eclectic music for the fans, but they also organize a community action day at each stop of the tour. The day after each show the musicians and their permaculture education team gather with the fans to demonstrate sustainable practices such as rainwater recycling, composting, transforming urban landscapes, and growing organic foods. Everyone spends that day working together on a project that will improve the community. Omaha’s permaculture action project took place Wednesday at the Dorothy-Patach Environmental area. The day was spent designing and planning to transform the area into a food forest (a low-maintenance sustainable food production system). The event was accompanied by a potluck style barbeque, a great way to get to know others in the community.
Tuesday night began with a speaker who explained what permaculture is (the practice of living in a balanced manner on earth), why it is important, and what successes the Permaculture Action Team has had thus far on the tour. Special guests from the Omaha community also spoke about various projects happening in our area.
The music began immediately following the presentation with The Polish Ambassador performing a “down-tempo” set for all of the fans that came out early to see the permaculture presentation.
Special guest Ayla Nereo graced us with her beautiful voice as she performed. Her voice was inspiring and the uplifting message of her lyrics kept the crowd captivated.
The Polish Ambassador then rejoined Ayla on stage to perform as their duo side project, Wildlight.
Terra Bella was next to perform as Mr. Lif joined The Polish Ambassador and Ayla on stage. With this collaboration the music transformed the experience into a hip-hop show.
Finally, The Polish Ambassador finished out the night with his next set, which was full of very upbeat dance music.
