Mandolin Orange at Vega

Since the release of their critically acclaimed album This Side of Jordan in 2013, Mandolin Orange has no intentions of slowing things down. Hitting dates on both the east and west coasts and all points in between, Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz are eager to tell their stories of heartbreak, loss, and redemption to audiences throughout the country.

In addition to the upcoming tour, the band recently participated in one of Yep Roc’s Sawyer Sessions. During the session, they performed two original songs, including a new track entitled “Little Worlds”, and a dazzling cover of Joe Newberry’s “Missouri Borderland.” Amongst the session’s settings of boots and antiques, Marlin and Frantz’s harmonies shine.

When performing live, the duo’s musicianship shines within their deft rotation between acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and other. Paired with Marlin’s honest, sharp songwriting, it is an experience like none other. Whether it’s a slower, eerie tune like “Black Widow” or an electric composition such as “Morphine Girl,” the band’s natural chemistry shines through, making it easy for the audience to connect with the songs.

Growing up in the south, hymns were an essential part of Marlin and Frantz’s childhood. With their expansive tour coming up, the pair is eager to share their melodious hymns with audiences across the continent, from festival to theater and at clubs and bars in-between.
