words by Chance Solem-Pfeifer
As it passes, time compresses. We know this, and yet, without fail, it's still surprising when we're confronted the volume of what we've done in a given span of time.
Sifting back through the work of Hear Nebraska's Spring 2014 multimedia interns, Cameron Bruegger and Molly Misek, I was fittingly taken aback both the scope and quantity of the work they'd produced. As an editorial organization, we discussed, evaluated and promoted it on a daily basis. All in one place, the photos and videos are dramatic, vibrant and have served to showcase Nebraska artists.
The spring interns departed Hear Nebraska last week for a summer of travel and exciting internships, making way for a new crop in the next month. Myself, executive director Andy Norman and staff writer Jacob Zlomke are anticipating their efforts as future contributors, but wanted to take this opporunity to celebrate the work they've executed this season with a sort of "best of" portfolio.
Before you dive into four months of visual work from Cam and Molly, a special thank you to marketing intern Jordan Hiebner, whose valuable contribution to Hear Nebraska can't be measured in image composition or technical proficiency. As an intern (and a dedcitaed volunteer beforehand), Jordan spear-headed the efforts for a Hear Nebraska concert series at Urban Outfitters, helping to organize one in April (with BOTH and Black Jonny Quest) and one in May (with See Through Dresses and Twinsmith). Jordan also compiled a comprehensive database of Nebraska music venues, and was instrumental in an HN partnership with Omaha Public Libraries that will see Nebraska music available to the public. Jordan was a generous and welcoming presence at almost every Hear Nebraska event during the last six months. If you had a chance to speak with him, you know that. He has our sincere gratitude.
Now, enjoy the Spring 2014 greatest hits from Molly Misek and Cameron Bruegger.
