[Editor's note: This Saturday, Hear Nebraska hosts Take Cover Omaha at The Waiting Room, starting at 9 p.m. Take Cover features Nebraska musicians covering songs by other Nebraskans. To preview, performers will share their takes on the songs they're covering.]

The song I picked speaks to me. A friend of mine wrote it years before I met him. I'm not sure what he was thinking about but I think I've been there.

Music can be deceiving. I will tell the crowd at the Waiting Room this Saturday how I interpret the lyrics, but I could have them all wrong. I'm not sure why I picked this song. Just like last year, the song I decided on just came to me. It was a gut feeling. I did not pick it for this reason, but from what I understand it is an important Nebraska song.

Instead of telling you the artist I plan on covering, I will list four other Nebraska songwriters/bands I gave serious consideration to: Matthew Sweet, Underwater Dream Machine, The Love Technicians and Mousetrap. Go check out those four bands then come to the Waiting Room on the 18th to support Hear Nebraska!
