Cults at Slowdown | Photo Essay

There’s this thing about being in Nebraska in the winter. We all seem to bear, or rather, ignore warnings of winter weather and questionable driving conditions.

What we wanted from a freezing night on Thursday was some warm, psychedelic pop.

Mood Rings, a steamy, sexy sound that added to a beautiful mix of pop culture and fashion. Their façade of attitude veiled honest lyricism and rhythm.

The next band seemed to be an antithesis to Mood Rings, perhaps to lighten the segue to Cults. SACCO is like the teenage angst band we all knew (and maybe loved) in the '90s or early millennium. The only difference was an added surfer psychedelic sound, common in the underground music scene.

High schoolers pushed and shoved their way, screaming for Cults as a beautiful projection lit the stage. Such a cute and idealistic band with realistic expectations. All in all, Cults delivered Omaha a hot cup of dreamy pop.
