Icky Blossoms | Ingrained Video Interview

by Andrew Norman

The rumor that's been spreading like pollen in the wind for months was confirmed yesterday when Saddle Creek Records announced its signing of Omaha experimental dance-pop band Icky Blossoms. Fronted by Tilly and the Wall's Derek Pressnall, filmmaker and Indreama frontman Nik Fackler and vocalist Sarah Bohling, Icky headed to L.A. Tuesday to start recording its debut album, with TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek.

We spoke with Pressnall and Fackler before the band's Waiting Room Lounge show back on Oct. 21, 2011, in the turning lane of Maple Street in front of the venue. Edited by Andrew Roger of Ingrained, the video interlaces their live performance of the song "Temporary Freakout" with the two songwriters speaking about what makes Omaha special, how Icky Blossoms is different than their other projects and how to use a baby as a sonic canary.
