Bright Eyes in Des Moines | Photo Essay

Somehow, Conor Oberst hasn't ever played Des Moines. At least, that's what he said on stage at the Val Air Ballroom Monday, Aug. 8. His band, Bright Eyes, had a sincerely grateful crowd of, I don't know, 500, waiting for them. It was clear they were grateful because they yelled things like "Thanks for coming here!" — things you don't yell when you're worried about seeming cool. It was cool.
