The Fremonts at Vega
Doors 7pm | Show 8pm | All Ages | $5
Born in New York City and raised in Boulder, Colorado, The Fremonts weave Midwestern ghost stories into restless Americana music. Stephanie Dodd (originally from Fremont, Nebraska – vocals/keyboard/xylophone/accordion) and Justin Badger (originally from Fremont, California – vocals/guitar/kick drum) lace their sound with bluegrass, country, blues, folk and indie pop influences. By blending Dodd’s lyrical voice and Badger’s turbulent style, they take on a range of topics from sprawling tales of escape and ambition to quiet disenchantment with traditional roles in American family life. In their three years of creating music together, The Fremonts have unearthed fresh authenticity in their writing and performances through dedicated practice and community building.
The Hangin’ Cowboys
The Hangin’ Cowboys are a country music band under the influence of Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, George Jones, Jerry Reed, Gram Parsons, Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, The Grateful Dead, The Flying Burrito Brothers…
An Indie/Alt band from Omaha, NE, Bazile Mills formed in May of 2014. The name is a tribute to a time almost forgotten and the ghost town. The town of Bazile Mills was founded in 1882 after the first woolen mill in Nebraska was erected just north of town. Today there are only about 30 residents as the townspeople left after the mills closed. The group is based around songwriter David Mainelli and features versatile musicians around him. Tim Rozmajzl brings a gifted country/ blues lead guitar to the mix. Laura Streeter (former lead singer for Gauge) brings an array of instrumental talents and a powerful, moody/indie voice that combines with rhythm guitarist, Sam Vetter’s, unique voice as well. Dan Stein plays the bass and the lap steel guitar and Robb Clemens (formerly of Driven) brings plenty of band experience with the drums.
The Burnt Red Sun EP was completed in December and features 5 of over 20 original songs they are currently bringing to the stage. They are working on a full length album this fall.
