The US gets Halloween, but Mexico and many other parts of Latin America get Dia de los Muertos (aka Day of the Dead). It’s a festive celebration to remember those who have gone before us.

We start off this year with early programming from 5-9pm on the topic of DREAMers & the immigration reform debate. Later we’ll have performances from Karma LiLoLa and Mariachi Rey Azteca at 10:00pm and a dance party late night with Brent Crampton.

► Latin-infused dance music via Brent Crampton
► Hungry? Maria Bonita Food Truck will be outside from 5:30pm for some yummy Mexican food
► Live Music and Ballet Folklorico performances: Karma LiLoLa and Mariachi Rey Azteca at 10:00pm
► Traditional elements like an altar (ofrenda) to honor the dead, sugar skulls, marigolds, pan de muerto, necklaces, masks, and Catrina face-painting
► Hosted by Athena Katharina, Alejandro Bustillos & Fatima Flores-Lagunas

5pm-2am / $5 after 9pm / 21+ / 1012 s 10 st

➤►◎● DREAMers Awareness ▬▬▬▬▬
5-9 pm
Advocacy for the DREAMers and the Immigration Movement/Voting Awareness

From 5-9pm we will be hosting a variety of notable guest speakers that will share their journey and shine light on an issue that affects us all, Immigration. These professional individuals will inform us on the DREAMers, their impact on our community, the importance on making wise, informed decisions on the cusp of Election Day, along with other topics.

We welcome you to invite your family, friends, co-workers, anyone who is open to learning more about these important issues. Face painting, sidewalk chalk art, music, and dance will make this a fun and magical evening. Please join us.

➤►◎● About loom ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬➤►◎●
loom: Weaving the Social Fabric Through Dance was founded in March of 2006. It started out as a monthly multicultural dance celebration in the cozy confines of Espana Tapas Bar in Benson (Benson before we knew it as today’s Benson). Over five years, beautiful music from various continents and timelines was danced to. In July of 2011, loom evolved into House of Loom, where we’ve taken this dance celebration to since.
