This day was written about in all the ancient books. The sun will be erased from the sky and Casey will descend from heaven on a golden blanket. Marty, Joe, and Josh, draped in silver vestments, will emerge from the west on horseback. There will come from the earth a great shaking, then an eruption, and Gunter will appear, borne aloft on a geyser. Three dragons will enter from symmetrical points along the horizon and, unfurling their tongues, convey blét, Walk By Sea, and Matt Cox to the ground.
Hey, Jack Hotel is releasing a second album and it’ll be available for the first time at The Zoo Bar!
• We did the whole thing at home, mostly in the same room in which we practice. Occasionally you might hear, or think you hear, a passing car, a creaking chair, a whirring cicada, a siren, or a barking dog. The instruments are alive, at home, and speak with their own full-throated voices.
• It was recorded by our man Matty Sanders.
• Watch for three-part harmonies, 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, dobro, Weissenborn, bottleneck slide, lap steel, pedal steel, harmonica, violin, mandolin, upright bass, downright bass, piano, organ, electric guitar, ukulele, banjo, and percussion.
• There are sterling appearances by our friends Dan McCarthy, Jack Rodenburg, Shaun Sparks, Max Morrissey, Matty Sanders, and Sweney Tidball.
• Sweney Tidball is some kind of crazy rockstar name.
• 3 of 10 songs are in D. Two others are in G, and one is in E. Another is in Eb. Two songs are in C. The other one is in F.
• If you count all the meat we’ve eaten since we started this album, we can’t fairly say that no animals were harmed in its making.
