Palm trees join the San Francisco skyline sitting on the horizon, and the San Francisco Bay surrounds. This is Treasure Island, where the annual Treasure Island Music Festival this year offered acts from M83 to The xx, from Grimes to The War On Drugs.
The festival drew 12,000 people on the weekend of Oct. 13 and 14 — most from California or the West Coast, minus this Nebraska native and her roommate. While most whom we met were surprised to see Midwesterners so far from corn country, we were pleased to find that Nebraska's music roots are spread far and wide, as festivalgoers we talked to rattled off Saddle Creek Records artists and other well-known Nebraska musicians.
The weekend was filled with California sun and captivating performances by up-and-coming artists from around the country. See a photo recap below.
