Prayers For Atheists l Ingrained Video

by Andrew Roger

Mostly made of slats of cheap wood and mattress foam stapled to the walls, castic sounds of anger and angst flowed freely through that garage into the backyard. Inside, Prayers for Atheists, led by poet Jared Paul, ripped through a set of political-tinged melodic hardcore. The young crowd headbanged and yelled along, pumping fists. Love Drunk turned into Ingrained quickly as we caught a call-and-response song called Guns Up. Sadly the PA was shot and the vocals didn't come out but you can still feel the music.

Part of the Love Drunk tour's goal was to share Nebraska music with the nation and encourage bands to play here in the good life. And we've already seen Everyday/Everynight and The Menzingers come through town. Come see Prayers For Atheists play tonight (Friday, July 8) at Antelope Park in Lincoln. The show will be in the enclosed shelter on the park's northeast section, near the parking lot. It starts at 7 p.m. I'm glad to see the mission of the tour and HearNebraska come full circle.
