“The Night I Lost the Will to Fight” by Cursive l Ingrained Video

by Andrew Roger

This is the last in our four-part live video series featuring Cursive playing through their breakout album, Domestica, Jan. 18 at the Waiting Room Lounge. One of my personal favorites, "The Night I Lost the Will to Fight" is a summation of the Cursive sound — it moves from muted vulnerability to sorrowful rage and angular melodies to fierce sing-alongs.

As the song starts, Ted Stevens softly declares, "I need a catalyst" — a thought it often takes me many more words to communicate to myself. I hope these videos will be a sort of catalyst for people coming to HearNebraska for kick-ass content. And, maybe, they'll be a catalyst to get a few more people to come out to shows, and to catch a few more eyes and ears globally to the great art that this state produces.

If you haven't watched the first three vides, watch them first:

1. "The Casualty"

2. "The Martyr"

3. "The Radiator Hums"

Here's "The Night I Lost the Will to Fight."

This series was produced by Ingrained, a group of videographers and photographers who are passionate about our local art and music scene. We ask for no praise except of the bands who have been featured.
