Nebraska Record Store Day Roundup | Preview

words by HN staff

Prepare for a big day of music collecting this Saturday as Record Store Day overtakes Nebraska.

We recommend seven shops in Lincoln and Omaha, three in Lincoln and four in Omaha. While Omaha suffered the loss of Antiquarium Records this past October, one newer store (Back in the Day Record Shop) recently joined the two mainstays — Drastic Plastic and Homer's — and the second-youngest but just as strong Saddle Creek Shop.

Lincoln's Backtrack Records (opened in 1988) and Recycled Sounds (opened in 1992) predate Lefty's Records a bit, but all three are quality stores with a good deal of vinyl to offer. See a selection of what each store has in stock below, and check out all the Record Store Day releases here, albums that just might be available in participating locations on Saturday (availability depends on what each store orders and is then sent).

We'll update the list below over the next few days.

LINCOLN

Backtrack Records

A message from owner Jeff Loos:

Doors open 9 a.m.

You know the rules. I don’t know what I get until I open the boxes, but I will pass on a small list of what I ordered. I might get from one to 20 pieces of things I ordered, but that’s the fun of the hunt. As usual, first come, first picks, so be early if you want something bad enough.

I did get the promotional pack this year, so we’ll have some free give away things such as Jack White buttons, misc. record tote bags, various artists CDs and a few other things. Supplies are limited on these items, free until gone!

In-store specials as usual on my sealed and used LPs and CDs, posters, etc. Any questions, give us a call at Backtrack Records 402-464-4567.

Here’s just a partial list of what might show up (plus more I didn’t list):

Frank Zappa 7”, Mumford & Sons, Animals 10”, Chet Atkins pic/sleeve, Davis Bowie pic/disc, Husker Du, Joan Jett Colored Vinyl, Paul McCartney E.P., Dave Matthews Band box set, White Stripes colored vinyl (Hot), Ringo Starr 7” box set, Dave Brubeck 10”, Bon Jovi Pic Disc, Blind Melon, Big Star, Capt. Beefheart, Cure, Cream Box Set, Black Keys 7”, Pink Floyd Pic/Sleeve, Doors 7” colored vinyl, Bob Dylan Pic/Sleeve, Nick Drake, Roky Erickson, Buddy Guy, Grateful Dead rare cuts, Sigur Ros and more. Plus lots of cool past Record Store Day items, well out of print!
