I drove up Dodge toward the Dundee neighborhood in Omaha. I turned off, drove a few blocks and pulled up to quaint brick duplex. This was the home of the mustachioed alt-country singer known as Dan McCarthy.

I knocked on the door and in about a second the front door opened and Dan McCarthy emerged and gave me a friendly greeting and a handshake. I was offered a cup of coffee upon entering the kitchen and in no time started talking:
