“When the New Year Comes” by Nelsonvillains | Love Drunk Video

New Paltz is a beautiful bohemian village nestled between the Shawangunk Mountains and the Hudson River, about 80 miles north of New York City. It's home to State University of New York, and bunch of cool little shops and galleries — including the Team Love-Ravenhouse Gallery. Rolling into town, you pass through quaint highway villages and past gorgeous, golden wheat fields sheltered and limited by expansive forest.

The village, and its surrounding area is indeed aesthetically impressive. So on Day 8 of the 2012 Love Drunk Video Tour, we naturally used the dirtiest, dourest, ugliest space we could find to shoot New Paltz-based Nelsonvillains. The four-piece rock band chain smoked in the attic of a creepy barn outside Salvation Recording Co., guzzled — and fought over the last swig of — 24-ounce cans of Genesee beer. You know, Rochester nectar. They also performed a new song that rocked the dust off this hoarder's paradise.

Six Love Drunk videographers are on tour shooting live, one-take videos with bands across the eastern part of the U.S., spreading the word about Nebraska music along the way. This was day six of 17-day tour. Learn more about the project and the tour here. Watch all the videos here.

Special thanks to this year's tour sponsors, Proxibid and Havana Garage, whose generous support is paying for much of the travel costs. Please support these Omaha businesses.

Andrew Norman is Hear Nebraska's editor-in-chief. Last night, he took part in the most fun, anxiety-inducing experience of his life, and (thus far) the most significant fundraiser in Hear Nebraska's history. He celebrated by jumping into a guitar-shaped swimming pool after-hours in Nashville. Contact him at andrewn@hearnebraska.org.
