The All-Vinyl ‘Playhouse of Dance’ at Old Pub Soul Club | Video Feature

Cheyenne Flotree, aka DJ Rad Dude, paints an appreciative picture that connects the lively Saturday bar scene at The Old Pub to the bygone soul artists stirring the party on half-century-old wax.

“It’s about honoring the people who made the music,” says Flotree, a member of Old Pub Soul Club’s organizing DJ group: Gettin’ Hipper Fun Bunch. “And it gives me a thrill that these dudes and ladies put out so much great music. They would be tickled pink to know all these young people are totally loving what they’re doing.”

That’s the ethos and the time bridge of the monthly, all-vinyl Soul Club at Lincoln’s Old Pub, just a few blocks south of downtown. We visited with Flotree and Rik Minnick (aka DJ Ol’ Moaner) last month to discuss the series and the dedicated following that’s sprung up, since its 2013 inception.
